Fall of the modern world
An utopia, an apocalyptical vision, an end
Purification through destruction
Powerless, when facing the elements unleashed
A crimson sky, sign of the great chaos
One being in search of the book of purification
Through conquest, he wants nothing but war, famine and death
Fascinated by the extinction of mankind
He wanders the world to fulfill his vision
A white horse to dominate the world
A red horse to let the blood flow
A black horse to ruin the lands
A pale horse to spread death
From a desolate summit, he invoked the end of times
The world drowned into darkness
Mankind, deprived of light, soon was torn apart
The earth quaked and opened to reveal endless pits
From the skies, a rain of blazing fire birthed cursed rivers
A scorching wave put an end to the reign of mankind
Leaving nothing but ashes and dying pyres...

An endless well calls all humans to throw themselves into it
A great mystical force escapes to possess those surrounding the chasm
Spectral tentacles seize pure souls
One by one, they fall into this bottomless pit
In a torrent of torn shouts, people sink into the inverted world
A universe in which water becomes earth and earth becomes water
Where the only light comes from wandering souls lost forever
Entire nations under the domination of great divine creatures
These great elders know only war and conquest
Innumerable conflicts created a land of charnel grounds and fire
Cries and grunts pierce the black clouds of this place
Swarms of sects worshipping the giants trap pure beings for the great sacrifice
Places of torture are erected on the plains of purification
This sacred place from which the damned souls, destined to feed the titans, escape
Beyond the void, stands a world where the human is no longer the hunter but the prey.
Beyond the void, the strong becomes the weak
Hope becomes death

French Black Metal. Only now woke up to this - better late than never I guess but... I could have been listening to this for well over two years... :| A one man, Raido or Renaud, project. This is wonderfully intense & intricate. An album that every lover of BM needs to have! highly recommended!!!

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!!

Fierce, melodic, powerful, dark, brutal and highly sophisticated. This is a good example how devastating black metal can be if it comes together with diverse songwriting and skilled musicians. May be it's even the best example. Deus Mortem are simply great and they will take you with them by use of their dynamic force.
